The Dexter Counseling Center team serves the holistic mental health needs for American International College students, using a brief and intentional strength-based therapeutic model. We focus sessions on identifying issues or major concerns, problem-solving, and providing support to facilitate the student's develop of strategies to address challenges and reach their personal goals. Our mission is to support students overall wellness while they grow to effectively managing academic, developmental, and interpersonal challenges so they can function successfully during their time at AIC and beyond.

Dexter Counseling Center will release information from counseling sessions to outside parties only at the request of the client. Records are confidential and will not leave the counseling center unless there is an emergency situation. Dexter Counseling Center records are not part of the educational record. We will not answer questions about any client from parents, family, friends, significant others, professors, employers, or anyone else outside of the counseling center staff. There are a few limitations to confidentiality specifically related to safety, which your clinician will review with you in person.

There is much more to wellness than physical or mental health. Other areas of wellness include (but are not limited to): intellectual, emotional, social, career, and spiritual. If one piece of the pie is over taxed or under developed, it will cause the wheel to be off balance and will influence other pieces of the pie – thus hindering your overall experience of well-being.

Scheduled an appointment with a Dexter Counseling Center provider to learn more about the wellness wheel and how you can improve challenging areas in your life to achieve optimal wellness.
