The Dexter counseling team focuses on assessment and intervention services for American International College students, using a short term therapeutic model.  Here at Dexter Counseling Center, we focus on identifying issues or major concerns, problem-solving, and providing support to help students develop strategies to address their personal goals. Our mission is to help students effectively manage academic, developmental and interpersonal challenges in an ever changing landscape so that they can function successfully during their time at AIC.

Dexter Counseling Center will release information from counseling sessions to outside parties only at the request of the client. Records are confidential and will not leave the counseling center unless there is an emergency situation. Dexter Counseling Center records are not part of the educational record. We will not answer questions about any client from parents, family, friends, significant others, professors, employers, or anyone else outside of the counseling center staff. There are a few limitations to confidentiality specifically related to safety, which your clinician will review with you in person.

Come join American International College Dexter Counseling Center for a ten week challenge focused on wellness. We will kick off this event on Wednesday, February 20th at 11 a.m. in AIC gymnasium. The goal is to work together and develop an understanding of wellness through the lens of goal setting while learning healthy coping mechanisms to help balance the stressors of college life. Sign up today! For more information stop by Dexter Counseling Center.

There is much more to wellness than just physical health. Other areas of wellness include (but are not limited to): intellectual, emotional, social, career, and spiritual. If one piece of the pie is off, it will cause the circle to be off balance and will influence other pieces of the pie – thus hindering your overall wellness.

Contact Dexter Counseling Center to schedule an appointment with a provider if you are interested in learning more about the wellness wheel and how you can improve challenging areas in your life to achieve optimal wellness.
