Good Goalies

From AIC alum Garry Brown's "Hitting to All Fields" column in The Republican/MassLive: The UMass (11-5-3) and American International College (13-3-0) hockey teams both have outstanding goaltenders.

Filip Lindberg, a junior from Espoo, Finland, (1.45 goals-against average) has started the last four UMass games, including a shutout victory and a scoreless tie. Fondly known as “the Espoo Eraser,” Lindberg was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round of 2019.

Matt Murray, a senior from St. Albert, Alberta, has played the bulk of UMass games, posting a 9-4-0 record and 2.01 GAA.

At AIC, coach Eric Lang counts on Jake Kucharski, a redshirt freshman from Erie, Pennsylvania; and Stefano Durante, a senior from Brampton, Ontario.

Kucharski has a 5-0-0 record and a 1.68 GAA. Durante stands 7-3-0 with a 2.40.
