New crosswalk to be created on Wilbraham Road in memory of AIC employee

Springfield city leaders came to AIC Thursday to reveal their plans for a new crosswalk, in memory of an AIC employee who was killed last month. The accident that took Margaret "Lani" Kretschmar's life came in an area where police say they have ticketed hundreds of drivers for speeding. Mayor Sarno said they will create a new crosswalk in memory of her to prevent future pedestrian accidents. There is now a crossing guard to help pedestrians cross the street but by the end of the year, the plan is to have a raised crosswalk with a new hawk light system.
