ALL RESIDENCE HALLS WILL CLOSE ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15th at 10:00am
and reopen on MONDAY, JANUARY 15th at 10:00am

All students are required to leave campus within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by December 15th at 10:00am, whichever comes first.
All AIC Student IDs will be turned off on Friday, December 15th at 10:00am.
Staying after this deadline without an approved Winter Break Housing Application will result in a non-refundable $100 fee, plus an additional $45 per night fee until an application is completed. Please make your travel arrangements now so that you are moved out for the winter break by this time.

If you need Winter Break Housing, please complete a Winter Break Housing Application, found in the MyHousing Portal.
Winter break housing applications are due by Tuesday, December 12th at 4:00pm. Applications received after this deadline will receive a $100 late fee.

Students staying on campus during the Winter Break are charged $45 per night ($590 for the entire break).
Those exempt from this charge include: in-season athletes that must be on campus for practice or competition, students in a required academic class or internship, and students working on campus.

Final Exam week is December 11, 2023 to December 14, 2023.

Students staying on campus during the Winter Break are charged $45 per night ($590 for the entire break). Those exempt from this charge include:

  • In-season athletes that must be on campus for practice or competition. (This does not cover the entire break; only the dates practices and competition are in session.)
  • Students that are participating in a required academic class or internship. (This does not cover the entire break; only the dates the class or internship is in session.)
  • Students working on campus. (This does not cover the entire break; only the portion of time the student is working their shifts.)

Before leaving for break, residents and their roommate(s) are responsible for the following:

  • Unplug, defrost, and empty your fridge
PLAN AHEAD: Mini fridges typically take at least 24 hours to defrost. If your room is vacant during break and students fail to defrost and empty their fridge, staff will empty (discarding the contents), unplug, and defrost it with a $50 charge applied to student's account(s).
ACORN COMPLEX: Please empty, but do NOT unplug your college provided refrigerator.
  • Remove ALL trash and recycling
All trash and recycling must be disposed of properly in your hall's trash room or in your hall's dumpster. Residents will be charged $25 per bag of trash/recycling removed by staff.
  • Clean all linens and clothing left behind.
Includes bedding, towels, and dirty clothing.
  • Clean your room/suite/apartment
Sweep/vacuum all floors, and clean counter, desk, and dresser surfaces.
  • Unplug ALL electronics
All outlets in your room/suite/apartment must be free from any devices. If something is left plugged in, staff will unplug it and a $25 charge will be applied to the student's account(s).
  • Remove ALL open or perishable foods
Food left behind that is either open or perishable will be removed by staff and a $25 charge will be applied to the student's account(s).
  • Pack and bring home all valuables
Remember your phones, computers, game consoles, jewelry, money, fish, medication, etc.
  • Close and lock all windows
  • Close all window blinds and shades

Residents are responsible for the care and cleaning of their rooms per the AIC Housing Agreement. Residents are also responsible for completing the above tasks before leaving for break. After the halls have closed for break, Residence Life Staff will conduct walkthroughs of all rooms in all halls to ensure that they are clean, well maintained by students, and that the break closing expectations have been met. Failure to do so will result in students being referred to the student conduct process and possible fines. This is to ensure the safety and security of your room/suite/apartment and to prevent pests.

Students who are not returning to AIC housing for the SP24 semester, need to inform Residence Life as soon as possible to avoid SP24 charges on your bill.
