Dexter Health Services (DHS) is the on-campus health care center of AIC, serving all registered undergraduate and graduate students. We are open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm during the Fall & Spring academic semesters.

 

ALERT: Measles is on the rise nationwide. Please ensure you have received 2 doses of the MMR vaccine prior to coming to campus. Visit cdc.gov/measles for more information.

Mission

The mission of Dexter Health Services is to provide quality, convenient, and cost-effective healthcare and education that helps our students achieve their wellness goals.

Our office is located on the first floor of Mallary Hall at 144 Wilbraham Road (next door to the Office of the Registrar).

Hours of Operation

Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm (Closed Weekends, Holidays & Snow Days)

Services available:

  • Care of common illnesses including colds, sore throats, vomiting/diarrhea
  • Sutures(stitches)/Staples and removal
  • Management of minor orthopedic injuries
  • STI testing
  • Contraception
  • OTC medications
  • Phlebotomy (blood draw)
  • Limited on-site testing (pregnancy, strep, etc.)
  • Health Education

Appointments

Appointments may be scheduled by calling the office during business hours at 413.205.3248 or visiting the Patient Portal for availability. You must submit your health records including immunization records and physical exam prior to your first appointment and before the start of classes. 

Cost of Services Provided

There is no charge to be seen by a healthcare provider at Dexter Health Services for a general sick visit. Patients may incur fees/charges for prescriptions, lab work, COVID-19 tests, influenza testing, imaging studies, etc. that are billed to the student/insurance by off-campus sources or labs.

 

**Please note, our office does not provide excuses to miss class. It is the responsibility of the student to communicate with their professors and keep up with coursework. Newly enrolled part-time students and newly enrolled full-time students 22 years of age and older should review the document titled Meningococcal Disease and College Students.

Students who are greater than 21 and do not live in on-campus residential housing may waive the meningitis vaccination. Please read, sign, and return the waiver to Dexter Health Services.

Medical exemptions (statement from a physician stating that a vaccine is medically contraindicated for a student) must be renewed annually at the start of the school year, and religious exemptions (statement from a student or parent/guardian, if the student is <18 years of age, stating that a vaccine is against sincerely held religious beliefs), should be renewed annually at the start of the school year.  

Students requesting an exemption to the vaccination requirements for medical or religious grounds should complete this form in addition to the above statements.

Patient Portal

Access your health records and upload your required health forms via the Patient Portal.  Caution: If you share your login information with friends/family, they will be able to access your records: https://aic.medicatconnect.com/ 

Please click on Health Requirements for Students to see a list of required health items needed prior to the start of classes.  Click on Physical Exam and Immunization Form to print out the forms that need to be completed by you and your medical provider.

Mandatory Health Insurance Information: Visit University Health Plans for completion of the enrollment or waiver form. All enrollments or waivers must be completed online. This process must be completed annually.
